Soul Yoga of Huntington, NY presents a Bhakti Retreat featuring Milard Roper and Jamie Love. Join us for a full day of connection, chanting and fun as we dive into the yoga of devotion (Bhakti Yoga), Saturday 10/28/23 We will be exploring yoga philosophy and sharing stories from several ancient yogic texts including the most celebrated book of yoga The Bhagavad Gita, as well as the Bhakti Sutras, We Will learn how to play the mridanga, the harmonium, and the kartals; which are the main instruments used in Kirtan (devotional chanting). By the end of the day you will have a deeper understanding of the basics of Bhakti philosophy and its practices .This is a limited and exclusive event. Be sure to reserve your spot! Milard has studied martial arts starting at 7 years old. He has been graced with so many great teachers and friends along his martial and Yogic path. He has studied Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 23 Years. He earned his Black Belt from Master Instructor Rich Korfhage. This lineage goes directly back directly to the Renzo Gracie. Before coming to BJJ he had extensive instruction from other world class martial artist like Ralph Mitchel, Nardu Deborah, Chan Bong, Rik Kellerman, and Louie Jack Man. Milard is also a licensed Acupunturist and Massage Therapist, as well as a Board Certified Chinese Herbalist. Having trained directly under Ana Forrest and Raghunath Cappo in the ancient art of Yoga, he incorporates Ana’s focus on alignment and connecting to the breath as well as Raghunath’s strong physical practice and rich tradition of yogic philosophy and kirtan. He has sought out to learn from some of the most influential Kirtan leaders of our time. His teachers in Kirtan conveyed such lessons that have served him in such amazing ways. Having studied with teachers like Vis, Gauravani, Ananta and Acyuta, Bhima Karma, and Madhava. Owing everything to his teachers, he feels blessed to have made such powerful connections in both the Martial Arts as well as Yoga communities.

 Jamie Love is a licensed massage therapist and bodyworker who has been teaching yoga and leading kirtan for 8 years. She was introduced to yoga philosophy and meditation as a teenager in college in 2001. Since then she has been diving deep with self study, as well as learning from many teachers along the way; including Raghunath Cappo, Kaustubha Das, Tukaram Das, Radhanath Swami, Guaravani, Visvambhar Sheth and Joe Barnett to name a few. She has studied Thai Massage/Thai Yoga bodywork with Micahel Sitzer and traveled twice to Thailand to study under Master Pichet. Jamie also has her Masters Degree in Special Education and has taught in inner city schools and high needs areas for 14 years. From that experience, she uses her knowledge base of differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of all her students and clients. She infuses her vast knowledge of the body, classical technique, and understanding of philosophy to deliver a deep,
